BESPOKE DESIGN

Classic Glass design and make stained glass leaded lights to the exact specification of the customer. We work closely with architects, contractors, surveyors, Church Councils, Heritage and conservation organisations and are pleased to offer newly commissioned stained glass windows alongside our restoration work.

RESTORATION

Stained glass window restoration is a four step process that involves the removal, disassemble, reassemble, and installation of the window. During this process the stone mullions are checked for possible damage or need for repair. The average window size would take about two weeks for a restoration.

REPAIR

Classic Glass provides a full glazing repair serviced and undertakes jobs of all sizes. Whether it’s full windows and panels or replacing the smallest piece of broken stained glass, we’ve got you covered. We endeavour to carry out all work onsite, but if we need to remove the damaged panel(s) to make a permanent repair at our workshop, we’ll provide the security of temporary glazing until the repairs are complete.

ENCAPSULATION

Unique to Classic Glass is the service it can provide in the encapsulation of new and old leaded lights. Encapsulation is a process whereby a stained glass panel is encased between two pieces of clear glass in a sealed unit (up to a profile of 28mm). The result is a weather tight, triple glazed unit, which will protect the beauty of the stained glass without any need for maintenance.

Metal Casements

Classic Glass can refurbish or replicate in new any or all components of a traditional single-glazed window system, including stays and handles, and we have many years experience in managing both residential and commercial projects of this type. It is a cost effective and invaluable service for owners of buildings under conservation orders or listed buildings, or for those who want to preserve the historic aesthetic of buildings in their care.

‘Not only do metal casement windows look great and preserve the integrity of historical buildings, but with minimal maintenance, they can last for centuries.’
